Kate Cartwright's Goddess Art
Huichol Snake
The snake, with its cyclical shedding of skin, is a symbol of change and regeneration. The spiral represents the ever-changing, ever-renewing cycle of the seasons and of all lifes processes. Here these two symbols are joined in a design taken from the Huichol Indian culture of Mexico, famous for their earth-centered spirituality and their art. In their cosmology coiled serpents are aspects of the Goddess of life and provide rain, abundance, growth and fertility.
